New Brunswick Water Front

The New Brunswick Water Front Assignment was about designing a plan for a site off Route 18 in New Brunswick, NJ.

About the project:

The project was for each student to design an area in New Brunswick. The design could be of anything the student wanted to do with the area. The first step was to sketch out the plan and scan it in order to copy it on to Google Earth. Then the sketched drawing was placed over the Google Earth area. Once that was done we imported the file into Google Sketch-up to make the area come to life by showing how it would look in the physical world….

Area Description:

The area is off Route 18. It is a construction site next to the Raritan River.

From Google Earth. Its the area on the right of route 18

Design Description/ View

The concept for the waterfront is a place for people to have weddings or other big events in a country club setting. There is a play ground for children and families to enjoy. In addition to the playground there is a pool house and a community center/store for residents from the neighborhood to enjoy. In the playground there are swings, slides, jungle gym, a basketball and a tennis court. This area is designed for the general public’s use.  Its for the local people residents and people who did not live in the area. I pictured it as a place where small concerts can be held. This area would cater to all ages. Nature plays a big role in this development since I try to incorporate a lot of green open space  surround by trees.

This is the finished product.
